Fr. Dominic Round with samovar.

Fr Dominic Round, Chaplain to Warwick University, writes of a life, full but never predictable, which involves rowing, giving retreats, cooking sausages for students and visiting Moscow and Leningrad. Our picture shows him with the inevitable samovar so beloved of Russian novelists and playwrights. Frs Harry Curtis, Mervin Smith and Kevin Kavanagh visited us in September last year. After spending a year in parish life in the diocese, Harry and Mervin have returned to Rome to complete their studies. Sean O'Brien, a Jesuit Scholastic, has been studying at London University for his second degree and is destined to work among the Zulus on the South African mission. He has already studied Philosophy at Dublin together with Zulu and South African History, and hopes to do Theology in Kenya. His brother, Nicholas, has completed two years' study for the priesthood at Campion House, Osterley. We hear that Steve Tarpey has gone to All Hallows to continue his studies for the priesthood.

DEATHS

We very much regret to record the deaths of the fathers of David Finn, Noel Stack and Kevin Coleman. Mr Jack Coleman of Stechford was a most generous benefactor to the School. In 1970 when the running track was still on the drawing-board, he agreed to level for nothing the very broken ground below the 1st XI cricket field. Eventually he levelled three times the original area agreed, all for no payment. Sir Denis Blundell, our Guest of Honour at Speech Day, 1968, when he was High Commissioner for New Zealand, has died. He later became Governor-General of his native land.

May they all rest in peace.
