We should like to congratulate several OC fathers and their wives on the safe arrival of their children. To Fintan and Margaret Hayes last November: a daughter, Helen. To Liam and Maria McCollum last February: a son, Michael. To Gerald and Joanne Knowles: a son in March. To Craig and Caroline Grewcock: a daughter in January, Katherine Mary, a sister for Simon. Craig is now a lecturer at Bristol. His brother, Gregory, is enjoying some manual work and has moved into a new home. The Grewcocks had a visit earlier in the year from Michael Coyne who is lecturing and working in Leicester. Richard and Gay Brumby now have a daughter, Helen, a sister for Gerard. Richard has just been off to Mexico for his employers, Baring Brothers. The Headmaster enjoyed their hospitality when he visited London for the London Old Boys' Dinner last November. Michael Hurley and his wife have a new daughter, a sister for Angela. Gerard and Norma Blakemore's daughter, Nina Sidony, was born in August and baptised by Mgr Gavin. John Mott was married to Miss Jill Smith in Norwich last August. He is a qualified pharmacist, having gained |
his degree at Brighton Polytechnic, and is working in Norwich. His brother, Dr Paul, is working at hospitals in the Birmingham area and is chiefly concerned with obstetrics and gynaecology. Stephen Jefferies is to marry Miss Kathleen Marie McGuire on 10th August this year in Norwood, Massachusetts. Michael O'Malley was married to Catharine Anne-Marie McCarthy in March at Our Lady of the Annunciation, Bishop Eton, Liverpool. The ceremony was performed by Fr Joe Smith, formerly Chaplain at Sheffield University, and Fr Pargeter concelebrated the Mass. Steven O'Malley of course was present, so was Nick Weston, who is married to an O'Malley cousin. Bernard Orrell was married to Miss Elizabeth Bulley at the Sacred Heart, Loughborough, on 10th February. Bernard, a lance-corporal in the Royal Engineers, went to Northern Ireland in June. Alan Moore was married to Miss Clare Johnstone at Alton in June. John Rogers was married last September and lives in Harrow. Peter and Pauline Campbell were married last June at St Saviour's, Broadway. They live at Pershore and Peter is working for a subsidiary of Alcan Aluminium (UK) Ltd as a product manager. He is concerned with research and the development of new products. He had previously worked as a surveyor for several Midland building contractors. John Lowe, who lives in Rathfarnham, Dublin, was married to a very pretty Kerry girl on April 5th, 1978. Both John and his wife work in the bank. His brother, Francis, is doing well, working as right-hand man to a supermarket 'whizz-kid'. John enclosed a photograph of his wedding reception. His sense of humour is still strong as he reports that they paid £30 to hire a Princess to take them from Tralee to Killarney where the reception was held. The expensive car contracted a puncture and brought the whole cortege of about 60 cars to a halt while the bride and groom transferred to another car. Dominic Palmese was married to Miss Sue Bolton on 19th May at the Abbey, Erdington. Dominic's brothers, Francis and Joseph, are working in the family business. We hear that Vaughan Pollard is married, but have received no details yet.
In our last issue we recorded the forthcoming marriages of John and Marian McConnell and John and Sheila McDermott. We are now able to include photographs of |
