written last January. Harry Bizley, from his idyllic retreat at Lee-on-the-Solent, thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Cotton, even the speeches at the lunch at Whitsuntide, and fully intends to come again next year. As he is now qualified to be one of our elder statesmen, we too hope that he will be here.

Dr John Fielding of Boston, Lines, has been kind enough to send details of the progress of his three sons. David is now a detective constable in the plain clothes branch of the Metropolitan Police. Old Boys in the area of Victoria and Sloane Square can expect little mercy. Michael is with the stockbroking firm of John Prust & Co. He has a beard and is an expert on the German mark, which seems a classic non-sequitur. Simon, whom illness compelled to leave Sandhurst, is studying hard for a degree, but still hopes to be fit enough to rejoin the Army before long,

More and more Old Boys seem to be writing about themselves and their careers. One can only urge more and more to imitate them. If they knew how much we value their news, perhaps even more of them would drop a line either to the Headmaster or to members of the Staff, so get moving.

    MICHAELMAS TERM 1968

The term began on 12 September. Also notable was the fact that three of four brothers, all in the School at the same time, were in this season's 1st XV (M, G and J Barry). But the rumour that the School was going coeducational was discovered to be based on the presence of two ladies on the teaching Stiff and the happy news of the birth of a baby daughter to Mr and Mrs T Owen. The numbers in the school, already greater than last year, were still more swollen by occasional visits from other schools, among them a visit from some Coleshill boys with Fr P Coyne and from some boys from Werrington Approved School, which later received a return visit (of short duration) from some members of the VI Form. Half way through the term this form presented its concert and afforded, as the Headmaster said, some intended entertainment and much unintended amusement. More serious hut, it is to be hoped, still entertaining was the visit of many of the priests who have boys from their parishes studying at Cotton, coming to see how their proteges were progressing. More visitors came to join the school in watching the Bowdon-Challoner House Play: 'Ten Little Niggers'. Although had weather prevented these two Houses and Milner from competing for the House Rugby Cup, it did not stop 'Milner from giving two performances of its play: 'Without the Prince'. one for the School and the other for local Catenians and 'senior citizens'. This, together with the Carol Concert and the examinations, brought the term to an end.
