Rumour has it that the Geography master is trying to further the Common Market project. P. Thorp was elected Secretary of the 54 Society. Ballot-rigging was suspected and the election declared null and void.

October 23rd.-The Under 14 XV defeated Newcastle High School by 28 points to nil, though the Under 16 XV did not fare so well. A film was shown to the Modem Languages Society after supper.

October 24th.-The Bursar left for his annual summer holiday. This time he went by sea to the sunnier shores of the Mediterranean.

October 26th.-After being in the lead 6-o at half-time, the 1st XV finally lost the match 18-6 at Mount St Mary's. St Thomas's soccer team visited St John's Preparatory School at Alton. They lost the match but enjoyed a splendid tea. The clocks went back one hour.

October 27th.-The extra time in bed was as usual most acceptable. Sore from their misfortune yesterday, the 1st XV made sure in their match against the Old Boys by winning 14--6. 'A Bad Day at Blackrock' proved to have nothing to do with life in Irish schools but was vaguely connected with the American wild-west. Only the true cowboy fans found it inspiring.

October 28th.-The 1st XV were allowed to recoup their energies this afternoon but occupation of a vigorous nature was found for the 2nd XV. Fr Owen, with the BBC broadcast on 24th November very much in mind, reorganised the congregation so that those capable of producing harmonious sounds should be nearest the microphone.

October 29th.-Today Fr Owen occupied his time voice-testing. Many were fortunate to find themselves ejected summarily. After supper most of Forms IVa and IVb invited themselves to Fr Dennison's birthday party. Fr Gavin's proximity enabled him to enjoy it also.

October 30th. - Mr Owen proved what has long been suspected that he is in the supertax class. His new car graced the front all day.

October 31st.-After supper Mr Brigden gave a talk on Banking as a Career. Benediction was postponed until 9.10.

November 1st.-A11 Saints' Day. High Mass saw Fr Owen's reorganisation of the ranks put into effect. The sound appeared to please. Rugger in the morning and soccer in the afternoon for those still capable of movement. The Prisoner of Zenda was at large after tea.

November 2nd.-Early Masses appear to get earlier each year. This year 6.1o was the official starting-time. The Headmaster sang High Mass at 9.30. The news of the death of Mr Warner's mother was received with sorrow. The 1st XV's match with Macclesfield was very tight, the final score being 5-3 for the visitors.

November 3rd.-The Fifth Form concert (lid not even have brevity to commend it.

November 6th.-A number of the Staff went to Leicester to attend Mrs Warner's funeral. The 1st XV beat King Edward's School, Stafford, on their own ground by 33 points to nil. The Under 15 XV were also victorious by 16 points to 5.

November 7th.-A professional from Leek arrived to initiate members of the Senior Forms and to encourage those supposed experts in the mysteries of golf.

November 81h.-The Prime Minister won the right to sit in the House of Commons by winning the By-election at Kinross. The electors at Luton, however, did much to take the gilt of his gingerbread.

November 9th.-The 1st XV were at home to a team from Moseley Schools, and won the match 19-8. In spite of thick fog, the Under 13 got through to Bishton Hall. Fr Piercy returned from his cruise.

November loth.-Fr Stewart sang High Mass for the dead of two World Wars. News reached us of the death of Fr John
